Pick up from the hotel in Baku. Today we will find out why Azerbaijan is called “The Land of Fire”. Tour starts at Absheron peninsula by visiting two of the most vivid examples of eternal fires in Azerbaijan:

✔ Ateshgah – which means “The place of fire” in Azerbaijani language. This temple of fire-worshipers was constructed in the 17th-18th centuries at Surakhani village.

✔ Yanardag – also known as a burning mountain, with natural gas burning on its slope from ancient times.

Continue to Gobustan national reserve. Explore the cave drawings – petroglyphs from the Stone Age on a rocky massif and visit the outdoor Museum of petroglyphs. Visit a plateau full of mud volcanoes of Gobustan. More than half the world’s mud volcanoes (around 300) are found in Azerbaijan.

Drive back to Baku; drop off at your hotel.
